Try the Year Compass!
I was reminded of how great of a tool the Year Compass is when I sat down to resume working on the 2025 section of the booklet! If you haven't already done your goal-setting for the year (it's early March, but better late than never!), this is a free download that I find very useful!
The template can be downloaded as a printable or a fillable one, so you can work on it anywhere. I decided to download the digital copy write the prompts in my notebook and work on it from there. The first half of the booklet will be focused on the past year (2024) and includes prompts that have you go through your calendar and reflect on those events and how they connect with different aspects of your life. In this section, there are also some neat prompts like
- The wisest decision I made...
- The biggest risk I took...
- The biggest lesson I learned...
- What are you most proud of
- Who are the three people you influenced the most?
Note: These are just a few examples from a whole bunch of others that have been carefully curated by the small team behind the Year Compass!
I like that there's a section that prompts you to forgive, whether that is yourself or another person. It's not something that I would typically do for a yearly reflection, and I thought it was clever.
The Year Ahead section (2025) is equally filled with many prompts to reflect upon, and I like that there are certain prompts that I typically wouldn't 'create' for myself:
- I am ready to let go of these three things.
- I will dare to discover these three things.
- I will have the power to say no to these three things.
- I will make my surroundings cosy with these three things.
- I will pamper myself with these three things regularly.
- I will connect with my loved ones in these three ways.
I haven't answered some of these myself, but I can already feel that I'm gonna have to think long and hard about some of them haha!
I found this template via a YouTube channel that I've been watching since I was in high school, a period where I was obsessed with those how-to-study-type-of-videos, and Unjaded Jade was one of those! She has since moved on from making study content, and, is more of a personal development creator. She has talked about the Year Compass at least twice in the last two years, which sparked my curiosity.
Jade is definitely not someone I would typically watch - she has a pretty different personality than I do (at least from what I can see from what she showcases to the world), but, I do look up to her positivity and her general attitude towards life. Her whole tagline is casual magic, where we should take time to appreciate the little things around us every day that can make our days magical. It's a nice, more gen-Z way of talking about gratitude that I like.
Just wanted to quickly share where I learnt about the template, feel free to try it out or save it for the end of this year when they eventually release the 2026 version :)
